Queen of Nothing
Ash, like the ashes that fall down with the children around the rose bush. Like the remains of a phoenix before rebirth, or the left-overs of the incinerated human carcass, kept safe in a vase where one might live on forever or in the basement without a name. Quiet, not because there is nothing to say, rather because no one will listen. Instead there are scrawlings on paper, her own life retold again and again as though one day it will mean something. An angel in the sunlight, with witch eyes and an aristocratic demeanor. Tall like a tree, colorful as a gemstone. Speaks with a tangible irony, but laughs like a young doe in winter. Smiles with perfect lips, perfect teeth, and makes nice with the gnarled animals that have no where else to call home. Keeper of a Dark heart, but there is no such thing as shadow without Light to cast upon it.
